Take a break from the ordinary on this regenerative focused winter getaway to Whitehorse and Dawson City. Spend three nights in the one-of-a-kind Black Spruce eco cabins and have the freedom to roam Whitehorse with your own transportation. Visit the newly renovated Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs, see Yukon’s unique wildlife and check out local viewing spots in search of the Northern Lights.
Then head North to Dawson City, famous for its central role during the Klondike Gold Rush. You’ll get to experience the quirky culture of this cool northern city during a time when few tourists are around. Meet the locals for a drink at the bar, try your hand at snowmobiling or join a guided tour to see the magnificent Tombstone Territorial Park.
Itinerary/Overview includes:
- Return flight to Whitehorse on Air North Yukon's Airline
- Day 1-3: Explore Whitehorse. Modelled after the famous Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway, the Black Spruce cabins are a unique environmentally focused accommodation in the outskirts of Whitehorse. Located just a few minutes from the airport and the city centre, the cabins offer a different style of lodging from local hotels. Here you can stay in a fully contained passive solar cabin made from rough cut local Yukon spruce while being within a short drive of all the best restaurants, bars and attractions in Whitehorse. With three nights in the Black Spruce cabins, you’ll have plenty of time to take in and appreciate all the cool features, such as the Shou Sugi-Ban siding (a Japanese technique of treating wood by burning), the cedar sauna that was cleverly built around existing boulders and is heated by a Finnish wood stove, and the rocky cliffs and forest of the adjacent park. You can join an optional Aurora viewing tour or visit some of the locals favourite Northern Lights viewing spots on your own.
- Day 4-6: Your Dawson adventure begins with a very scenic flight from Whitehorse on Air North. Right away you will know you are in for something special as you soar over the frozen and rugged northern landscape. The next 4 days allow you time to visit the must see and the more remote places around Dawson. Included are two guide opportunities to view the Aurora Borealis at night at an intimate viewing site in West Dawson.
- Day 7: Return to Whitehorse. Today it's time to say goodbye to Dawson. In the afternoon we will transfer you from your hotel to the airport where you will catch your flight back to Whitehorse. Tonight you will enjoy one last night of free time in the Yukon's capital. If you wish you could head out for one last aurora tour (additional charge) for another chance to view the Northern Lights.
